The Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports has three new staff members for 2007â€“2008.
Mark Papadopoulos MBA '99 is the new associate athletic director for operations. Papadopoulos comes to Saint Mary's from San Jose State University, where he was assistant athletic director for facilities and events. Papadopoulos has over 18 years of collegiate athletics experience as an administrator and player, and has worked at the West Coast Conference office, the University of San Francisco, San Francisco State and Sonoma State.
Staci Hamaguchi '05, MA '07 is the new coordinator of athletic promotions. Hamaguchi was a softball player at Saint Mary's and also served as a graduate assistant softball coach. In her new position, she is charged with enhancing the game-day atmosphere and serving as the corporate sponsor liaison and special events coordinator.
Mandy Bible '07, a three-time all-conference volleyball player, has been hired as assistant sports information director. She helps write releases and media guides and handles game-day responsibilities for women's basketball and volleyball.
In addition to these new staff members, the department has appointed four of its employees to a new academic services team.
Academic Services Team
Katie Davis '02 has been promoted from director of external relations to assistant athletic director for academic services. A former women's basketball standout at SMC, Davis has worked at Saint Mary's since 2004, when she was hired as director of marketing and promotions.
Chris Harrell '03 is coordinator of compliance and eligibility. Harrell, a former SMC running back, has been a graduate assistant for the past three years working in Student Support Services. Harrell will receive a master's degree from SMC in counseling and his credential in pupil personal services.
Kari Montero is assistant director of athletics for student-athlete services. She's been at Saint Mary's for four years and previously worked in the athletics departments at Arizona State and USF. As an undergraduate, she played basketball at UC Davis.
Stephanie Shrieve MLS '00 is the assistant director of athletics for compliance. She returned to Saint Mary's in 2006 after spending two years as associate athletic director at UC Irvine. Shrieve served as associate athletic director for compliance at Saint Mary's from 2000â€“2004.
