"An English major? What can you do with that?"
If you are or are considering becoming an English major, you’ve probably heard this question. Maybe from your friend the business major, maybe from your parents as they signed your tuition check, maybe you’ve even asked this question yourself.
Relax. The answer is “a lot.”
The critical thinking, analysis, and writing skills an English major develops can be applied in a wide range of professions. Possessing written and verbal command of our language is a solid foundation which will help you become successful in any career setting. Some of our graduates head for careers in teaching, writing and the arts. Some have published books soon after graduating. Others apply their critical and creative skills in marketing, web development and law. And while we can’t claim to have taught them everything they know, we even have a four-star chef among our grads.
Our Alumni Success Stories will give you an idea of the myriad possibilities a degree in English provides.
