The Saint Mary's Graduate Business East Bay Alumni Council in association with the Keiretsu Forum presents "Exploring Entrepreneurship" - sponsored by MassMutual Financial Group and Northwestern Mutual Financial Network.

Entrepreneurs are people willing to take risks to pursue an opportunity, whether it is personal, professional, financial, or all of the above. But are entrepreneurs a certain type of "breed"? Or can anyone with a unique idea, will, determination, network, and tools be able to succeed? Come join us in a conversation with successful entrepreneurs from various industries, to hear their stories, their lessons, and most importantly, their practical tips on how to get your company started, now. Moderated by Randy Williams, founder of the Keiretsu Forum, the world's largest angel investor network, this dynamic panel is sure to inspire and bestow you with useful tips that you can immediately apply as you explore entrepreneurship. Hilary DeCesare is an accomplished entrepreneur, experienced in all aspects of launching and growing a business. She is the CEO and Co-Founder of Everloop, a new COPPA and CAN-SPAM-compliant social networking platform targeting the tween demographic (ages 8-13). The accomplished entrepreneur and Internet safety advocate has found a winning approach to developing kid-friendly technologies by creating kids' sites that are separate from adults but with equally innovative technologies. As a mother of three tweens, she also strives to ensure safe online experiences for children to provide parents with peace of mind. By creating sites that appeal to both kids and parents, DeCesare has earned praise in the national media at such outlets as "Mike and Juliet," FOX, NBC and San Francisco Chronicle. Prior to Everloop, Hilary co-founded White Space Ink, a management-consulting firm that specializes in working with start-up technology companies. During her five-year tenure at White Space, Hilary counseled company executives on all areas of strategic planning and corporate development. Hilary also spent ten years working at Oracle Corporation in various sales management positions, winning over 100 sales awards. She garnered Top Worldwide Account Manager, Top Worldwide Sales Representative, Presidents Club, SWAT Team and was a Member of President Task Force and Review Committee. Hilary keeps active outside of work as the director of the West Coast chapter of Tweenangels and WiredSafety. She recently participated in a Cyber safety panel at the WiredSafety Cybersafety Conference in New York with top-industry leaders, such as the Chief Security Officers of Oracle, MySpace and Facebook. She is also an active member of the Parent Teacher Association with the important role of Internet Safety Coordinator.

Sean McLellan is President and CEO at East Bay Machine & Sheet Metal, a contract manufacturing firm specializing in precision machined and sheet metal components for companies in the automotive, industrial, high tech, nuclear and solar industries. East Bay Machine & Sheet Metal's primary growth strategy has been through merger and acquisition, and has acquired four companies in four years. The company's latest acquisition was a manufacturer of specialty lawn and garden tools and equipment, providing East Bay Machine & Sheet Metal with its own product line sold under the Young Products brand name. Sean is responsible for setting overall strategic direction and for creating and growing relationships with employees, customers, suppliers, and stakeholders. Throughput, inventory, and operational expense are the three things that keep Sean awake at night. Prior to founding East Bay Machine and Sheet Metal with his business partner Tim Alvey, Sean's career has spanned banking, high tech, and manufacturing companies varying in size from public to start-up. Sean guest lectures for the Saint Mary's EMBA Marketing classes, is married with two children, and is a pilot in his spare time.

Tim Alvey is Chairman and Chief Financial Officer at East Bay Machine & Sheet Metal. Prior to founding East Bay Machine & Sheet Metal with his business partner, Sean McLellan, Tim spent 17 years as a financial advisor, most recently as Vice President and Branch Manager for Charles Schwab.

Wayne Hill has served as the Managing Director at Northwestern Mutual Financial Network since 2004. At Northwestern, he helps individuals and businesses with comprehensive financial security planning. In addition, he is responsible for recruiting and developing people-recent college graduates and career changers-for his firm. Prior to Northwestern, Wayne was the assistant Vice President at Merrill Lynch (2002-2003) and Group Marketing Manager at aka Ingenio (2001-2002). A member of the Saint Mary's College School of Economics and Business Administration Advisory Board, he received his MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management in 1997 and his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in 1988.

Since 2004, Mary Jo Potter has been the Managing Partner at HighperLink, an international human capital management consulting firm serving as a source of "best-in-class" solution providers. Prior to HighperLink, Mary Jo has served in senior-level positions such as the Managing Director of Corporate Alliance, Inc, a professional service firm whose mission is to improve the effectiveness of organizations compelled to change. She was an Executive Vice President at Omega Performance Corporation, a consulting firm specializing in individual and organizational performance improvement in the financial services sector. In this position she established international offices in Canada, Europe, Australia and Asia, and growth of 400% in two years. She was the Co-Founder and President of Oxicon, a consulting and software services organization that was purchased by McGraw-Hill in 1984. Mary Jo is also a Keiretsu Forum Silicon Valley Chapter member for almost ten years. Mary Jo will be able to provide an entrepreneurial perspective based on her experience founding a company, based on her experience in senior level management, and as an investor.

Randy Williams founded the Keiretsu Forum in September 2000 to provide a disciplined and structured approach to private equity investing. Randy's passion for investing and bringing together like-minded community leaders has created a powerful and giving environment for entrepreneurs. Since its inception, Keiretsu Forum members have invested over $180m in 200 companies in technology, real estate, health care/bio tech/life sciences and other sectors of the economy with high growth opportunity. Keiretsu Forum has expanded to seventeen chapters throughout the United States, China and Europe. With over 750 members, Keiretsu Forum is the largest angel investment community in the world. Randy has 30 years of experience in finance, real estate, and marketing. He currently holds board and advisory positions in eight companies. Randy was Co-Founder and Director of Diablo Valley Bank from 2003 to 2007. During its first three years the bank grew to more than $250m in assets, serving the entrepreneurial community of the San Francisco Bay Area. Heritage Bank recently acquired the bank for $70m creating a $50m increase in shareholder value realizing a 4X return on investment. Randy was President of Pacific Union Commercial Brokerage, Founder of the LaMorinda Bank, and Managing Director of Kennedy-Wilson International, an international real estate investment company. Randy is also the Founder of the Keiretsu Forum Charitable Foundation. Since its inception in 2001, over 100 deserving charities have been granted sizable donations. The goal of the Keiretsu Forum Charitable Foundation is to grant $250,000 annually to worthy local charities throughout the Keiretsu Forum chapter network. Randy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California Berkeley and Masters degree from Saint Mary's College of California. He is an avid Masters swimmer, holding past Master's World Records. He was also was an All-American Water Polo player at UC Berkeley.
