MARY Magazine welcomes work from established and emerging writers, as well as new media and sound artists. Our only standard is excellence.
Specifics of excellence include:
- Submissions emailed to us as Microsoft Word files at mary@stmarys-ca.edu; new media and sound artists should include their work as QuickTime, Windows Media Player, or MP3 files on CDs sent to:

- Only one work of fiction or nonfiction submitted per email, and no more than six poems at a time;
- Your name, address, phone number, and e-address in the body of the email; the subject line should notify us of the genre to which you're submitting—FICTION, NONFICTION, or POETRY; and
- Tolerance towards simultaneous submissions, as well as authors who let us know immediately when their work has been accepted elsewhere.
Our submission period begins September 1 and concludes February 1. Unsolicited submissions sent outside this period will be returned unopened.
