Major Maintenance

The Campus Planning Committee, chaired by the Vice President for Advancement and Planning, was set up as an advisory committee to the President. The charge of this committee is to receive and review all applications for space use and needs on campus. The chair will then forward the recommendations of the committee to the President for his decision.

Major Maintenance Requests

Major Maintenance is an annual Capital Improvement Program designed to address those campus wide needs which are not normally addressed by the College's operating budget. Funding for this program is limited and projects dealing with space allocation or reallocation must first be submitted to the Campus Planning Committee.

For macro requests for new constuction, renovation or remodeling, please fill out the Major Maintenance Request form:

Project request forms are available in the office of the Facilities Services. Request forms must be signed by the appropriate Director or Dean and the area Vice President. The completed application is then submitted to the Vice President for Advancement and Planning, Barry L. VanderKelen, Ph.D, (Fax #: 376-1242 or as an attachment to bvanderk@stmarys-ca.edu). These forms are then reviewed by the Campus Planning Committee.

Space Requests

For requests to alter existing space, expand existing space or require new space, please fill out the Alternate or Additional Space Request form:

This form should be completed, submitted to the appropriate chair, manager and/or director for his/her approval and then forwarded to the area vice president for his/her approval. The area vice president will then forward the form to the Campus Planning Committee through the office of the Vice President for Advancement and Planning. The committee will review the request at the earliest possible opportunity, may ask that the originator of the request make a presentation to the committee, require further documentation (including a proposed budget and source of funding for the project), and then will make its recommendation to the President.

The only exception to the guidelines outlined above will be major new construction for which a specific committee of interested individuals will be making the specific recommendations to the President.
