Faculty Fellowship Application
Dear Interested Faculty Member,
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is a growing area of scholarly study supported by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. According to the foundation, “the program seeks to support the development of a scholarship of teaching and learning that: fosters significant, long-lasting learning for all students; enhances the practice and profession of teaching, and; brings to faculty members' work as teachers the recognition and reward afforded to other forms of scholarly work.” You can find more information on SOTL at
http://www.carnegiefoundation.org/index.asp
As a member of the SMC-SOTL fellowship you will be initiating and developing your own teaching and learning project within the context of a cohort of likeminded faculty. The program will begin with a few meetings over the summer in preparation for the launch of your pedagogical project in the fall. The summer meetings will be aligned with the summer new-student orientation schedule for the college. The fall meetings will take place every three weeks during the course of the semester. It is our hope to be able to participate, as a group, in a conference on the scholarship of teaching and learning sometime next spring.
If you are interested in applying for membership in the next cohort, please let me know via e-mail.
Best Regards, Anna Novakov
