A professor in the Chemistry department in the School of Science at Saint Mary's, Burley is an expert on air pollution levels in California's national parks, in particular, Yosemite National Park.
Burley is an expert on pollution levels around Yosemite National Park. He recently worked with researchers from the Air Resources Division of the National Park Service to measure ozone levels in and around the park.
He can also address, in general, issues such as air qualtity contamination resulting from industrial accidents and large scale disasters such as Japan's air quality in the wake of damage to the Fukushima-Daichi Nuclear Power plant after the March 2011 tsunami and earthquake.
