A professor of rhetoric in SMC's School of Economics and Business Administration, Carroll has studied political arguments surrounding marijuana laws and enforcement in California and the nation.
Carroll has researched historical and political arguments surrounding marijuana laws and enforcement for nearly 20 years. Her research also includes analysis of how judicial decisions have been constrained by mandatory minimum sentencing statutes. In addition, Carroll teaches communication courses focusing on political arguments and persuasion, interpersonal communication, law and public policy and management strategies.
She has offerred commentary to new organizations on ballot efforts to legalize marijuana in California and across the nation. Carroll served as a historical consultant for the 2007 Showtime documentary "In Pot We Trust," and was recently interviewed by KGO News Radio about Californians' opinions on legalizing marijuana.
