Conference Services offers invaluable job experience to undergraduate students as a Summer Guest Host. In addition, ACUHO-i paid internship positions are also available to graduate and undergraduate students who show outstanding quality.

During the summer months, the College hosts an array of conferences and summer camps for thousands of guests. We strive to provide a consistent high level of services from June through August.

SUMMER GUEST HOST

In order to help facilitate these programs, our office is seeking to employ  Summer Guest Hosts that have strong initiative, decision-making and problem solving skills, ability to provide remarkable customer service, and can work both independently and as part of a team at times. SGH’s are the primary workforce for conferences and reports to summer leadership and administration.

Summer Guest Hosts (SGH) will be directly involved with all elements of conference and event planning and execution:

  • Prompt communication
  • Guest check-in & out
  • Residence hall preparation
  • Meeting space arrangements
  • Catering & dining logistics
  • Coordinating with Media Services Staff & Equipment Event schedules

The SGH’s must be friendly and committed to excellent service and conferencing concepts. The SGH requires professionalism, reliability, initiative, adaptability, independent judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member. The SGH will be responsible for working directly with conference groups and planners on hosting their summer conference at SMC.  The SGH’s should expect to assist in the coordination of all aspects of dining, catering, check in/out processes, classroom and meeting space reservations, audio visual services, parking/transportation, and recreation/fitness center access.  The SGH’s will also make numerous contacts with not only clientele but also a variety of campus partners and staff.  Also an ability to work under pressure and the ability to demonstrate a willingness to exceed the expectations of these groups and its participants while representing Saint Mary’s College in the best possible manner.

In addition to the invaluable experience Summer Guest Hosts receive, on-campus room and board is also provided. Applications can be found on Gaelink, through the MySaintMary’s portal each January.
