Throughout the academic year the Staff Council randomly selects a staff member to celebrate in our Spotlight on Staff. Our recipient for the month of March is Erice Warren.
How long have you been at Saint Mary's?
I have been at Saint Mary’s College for eight years.
Tell us a little about your job.
I am the Warehouse Supervisor and my main role is in dealing with shipping and receiving. I receive all campus-wide orders for paper and make sure they are delivered to their respective departments. I am also responsible for mailing through USPS and receiving orders through UPS, FEDEX, DHL, GSS, and SDD. I work closely with these delivery services to ensure packages are delivered, received, and shipped out in a timely manner.
What do you enjoy the most/find most rewarding about your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is feeling accomplished in taking orders and sending them out correctly and efficiently. Its nice when a package has been lost or misplaced and I am able to track it down. I love the feeling of helping others and solving problems because seeing the smile on my customer’s face makes my day.
What do you enjoy most about the SMC Community/Campus?
The people at Saint Mary’s are the best part about my job. I enjoy the whole campus community and getting to know new faces while developing relationships. I also enjoy the students who are here. It’s a true joy being able to help our students grow into responsible adults, as service is so important to me.
Outside of work, is there anything you'd like to share about your interests, hobbies, family, or volunteer work?
I like sports, both outdoor and indoor. I like to cook and my specialty is my ability to make custom sandwiches. These sandwiches have gotten so popular that I like to have cookouts every now and then to show them off. I also like to practice massage. I have been a Massage Therapist since 2003 and this skill allows me to practice my love to heal people.
What would you like the SMC Community to know about you?
I’m a family guy. I spend a lot of my free time with my children Elijah (8), Airika (23), and Erice Jr. (29). An important life lesson I teach them, is to have love in their hearts and not to let the weight of the world get to them, but to use it as a motivation to move forward.
