Foster Teens Reach Goals

An article in the Tri-Valley Herald about foster children discusses the accomplishments of Saint Mary's College alumna Jessica Macready '04. A former foster child, Macready attended the college with the help of Contra Costa County's Independent Living Skills Program. The federally funded program enables foster kids a chance to begin preparing for their independence at age 16 and offers them support until they turn 21.

Macready, who plans to earn a master's degree in social work, praises the staffers at the Independent Living Skills Programs for helping her find scholarships that paid her entire college tuition at Saint Mary's College.
