3/7/2009 (Acalanes HS)-- Saturday’s game vs. Reno was a real nail-biter, the final score being 6-5 in favor of the Gaels. Mackenzie Donoghue again was a big player for the Gaels marking two goals in the game, along with senior Alex Dabney who put in two. Dabney’s last goal broke the stalemate in the fourth quarter, to give the Gael’s the one goal advantage.  On the defensive side, Henry Graham stood out for SMC, picking up numerous ground balls and making a number of defensive checks stopping the key players on the Reno offense.

3/8/2009 (Santa Cruz, CA)-- In Santa Cruz the initial score in the first quarter looked promising, as the Gaels held on 1-2  behind Santa Cruz. However, as the game progressed Santa Cruz continued pull ahead without Saint Mary’s answering back. By the fourth quarter Santa Cruz had put up 10 goals to Saint Mary’s 1, making the final score 10-1. The Gael’s single goal was scored by the attackman Matt Dini in the first quarter.
