Brent and Maureen own Brent Eastman Insurance Services Inc. in Salinas, Calif. Brent is also vice president of the California Rodeo, held every year in Salinas during the third week in July, and president of Partners for Peace, also in Salinas. Amanda, the first of five children, just graduated from CSU Channel Islands and is working at Chateau Julien in Carmel Valley. Son Sam attends Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz. Cammie, age 15, is a sophomore at Notre Dame High School, and twins Ben and Brent Jr., age 10, are in 5th grade.

Robert Sher EMBA and lecturer, 1995 – 2000, has been asked by Forbes.com to be a permanent columnist in its Leadership section with a column entitled “Game Raising Insights: CEO-to-CEO.” Sher is founding principal of CEO to CEO, a consulting firm that helps executives running mid-market companies raise their game. From 1984 to 2006 he was the chief executive of Bentley Publishing Group, and steered the company to become a leading player in its niche of decorative art publishing.

Lauren, the founder of the Elfenworks Foundation, SMC Regent, and frequent campus lecturer, has authored a new book, “Intelligence & Compassion in Action, The 7 Pillars for Social Entrepreneurship.” The purpose of the book is to be used as “a tool to empower the aspiring social entrepreneur, with real guidance as to how, and why, social entrepreneurship

Damien and his wife, Angelina, welcomed their first child, Lucas Shane Tan Fairbairn, on March 29. They reside in San Carlos, Calif., and are enjoying every minute of parenthood.

Dave, is excited to begin his new adventure as principal at St. Andrew Catholic School in Cape Coral, Fla. Dave recognizes that there are many blessings associated with working at a Catholic school, but the best is having his three kids (Drew, 7, Kaylin, 6, and Charlie, 4) with him at school each day. Dave and Sue (Susan Perry ’03) are hoping to find a few Gaels in South Florida with whom to share their Gael Pride!

Kelly, a 23-year veteran of the Salinas Police Department, was appointed chief of police of that city. He rose through the ranks from officer to detective, corporal, sergeant, commander, and then deputy chief. McMillin helped create and directed the Community Alliance for Safety and Peace, providing leadership for Salinas Police  Department’s Ceasefire strategy, work for which he was honored by the White House with 11 other leaders at the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention.

Cathy, Joe and Brandon attended the SMC Wine Festival in August.

Beth is a social worker for the Orange County Social Services Agency. She was married in 2007 to Eric Burnell and has three children, Tyler, 4, Drew, 2, and Leigha, who was born on Jan. 23.

Marisa married Michael Matz on Oct. 1, 2011, in San Clemente, Calif. Gaels in attendance were matron of honor Angela (Schnellbacher) Dixon ’04, ECR ’07, Gina Amato ’04 and Veronica (Garcia) Hernandez ’03. The couple resides in Dana Point, Calif.

Stephanie, who served as an assistant principal at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton this past school year, was selected as the new principal at Donlon Elementary School in the same community.

  Stephanie received word this month from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences that she has completed all the requirements to finally sit for the first of two marriage and family therapist exams. She vacationed in Alaska in July 2011

Kehli, of Butte, Mont., is engaged to Randy William Hazlett of Ramsay, Mont. Kehli is pursuing a master’s degree in technical communication at Montana Tech in Butte, where she works as an outreach program coordinator. Randy is a civil engineering graduate of Montana Tech and is employed at Pioneer Technical. A September wedding is planned.

Angelina graduated from UC Davis School of Medicine on May 19. She was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and received the Crystie Halsted Award for Excellence in Pediatrics and is currently a pediatric resident at Kaiser Oakland.

Stefani and fiancé Levi Finch (an Oregon alum) were engaged on July 2011 and married September 22, 2012, in Pebble Beach.

Molliee and Martin are engaged and plan to marry on April 27, 2013, in San Francisco. They currently live in Los Angeles with their Pomeranian, Gaston.

Maritza and Paul were married on May 7, 2011, in Pleasanton. Hilary Calhoun EE ’06, EMBA was a bridesmaid, and fellow Gael Kathleen Cook EMBA also joined the couple on their special day.

Mikey, made the fateful decision at age 19 to try out for a beach soccer team in Santa Cruz, which led to tournament play around the U.S., the chance to play for the U.S. Beach Soccer Team in Rio Quente, Brazil, and an offer to play in Switzerland for three months in the summer. His success led to an offer from another Swiss team for the 2012 season; he now lives in Switzerland for three months out of the year. At home in the Bay Area, Mikey works as a personal trainer at Living Lean in Orinda and coaches soccer at De La Salle High School. He says his time in Switzerland has taught him about sports, life, culture, communications, relationships, himself and what he really wants and needs. He hopes beach soccer will take off like beach volleyball has and be included in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mark, a news correspondent for WLNE in Providence, Rhode Island, reported on both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions this summer. Curtis is a 30-year radio and TV professional, who worked at the Bay Area’s KTVU from 1993 to January 2008. Curtis has covered presidential campaigns and traveled the country with candidates as a blogger and freelance political analyst. His book “Age of Obama: A Reporter’s Journey with Clinton, McCain and Obama in the Making of the President 2008” was released during inaugural week 2009 by Nimble Books, Inc.

Brett, who played basketball for SMC, married Kristen Burkhart in Sarasota, Fla., on Oct. 8, 2011.  

Peter, in his role as maritime director at the Port of San Francisco, has been actively involved in the city’s hosting of the 34th America’s Cup in 2013. He lives in Moraga with his nursing program graduate wife, Jodie ’80, and attends as many Gael basketball games as possible.

Fred and wife Linda have moved from Lafayette to Vista in northern San Diego County to be near two of their children and four of their grandchildren. Fred has joined a Vista Kiwanis club and Linda participates in Girlfriends Care. They are new members of San Luis Rey Mission Parish in Oceanside. The San Diego climate is very kind to older bones.

Clare was recently recognized by Barron’s as one of “America’s Top 100 Women Financial Advisors” in her current role as managing director and international financial advisor with Merrill Lynch Venture Services Group in San Francisco. Clare and her husband, Andrew,  have a daughter Jessona, who is a sophomore at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton.

Eduardo has been married for 26 years, has a daughter, Ashley, in grad school and lives in Monrovia, east of Pasadena. He was appointed to be a Los Angeles County deputy probation officer 1 - juvenile counselor in 1989 and promoted in 1993 to DPO II, a position which included performing street/school level special assignments in Los Angeles. In 1997, Eduardo was selected for the first “MS13” street level transitional gang task force. In 2000, he participated in a hemispheric transitional gang conference in El Salvador and was promoted to supervisor in 2003. He went to the Pasadena field office in 2006 and is currently assigned to a pilot project for the LA County Chief Executive Office called the Countywide Gang and Violence Reduction Initiative. Eduardo has been part of a team that reduced gang, hate and racial violence in four demonstration sites and accomplished this through community organizing, targeting high-risk juveniles and their families, and assisting with economic development. He is also the L.A. representative for the International Latino Gang Investigators Association, does training on the Central American gangs “MS13 & 18th St” and is a volunteer instructor for his department. Eduardo has also done classes and workshops in San Jose, Merced, Chico, Concord, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Colorado, Seattle and Kansas.

Jennifer married Ryan Boyd on March 31 at a Livermore winery and welcomed a son, Griffin Wesley, on Nov. 4. The family resides in San Ramon. Jennifer has worked at UPS for 20 years. Her current position is strategic alliances manager within the Customer Technology Marketing Group.

Tami retains her roles as CFO and CMO at Microsoft and will assume responsibility for the business of Windows. Reller joined Windows in 2007 from the Microsoft Dynamics division, where she held a number of leadership positions. She began her career in technology at Great Plains Software in 1984 while still in college, and was the company’s CFO when Microsoft acquired the firm in 2001. Reller has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Minnesota State University at Moorhead. In her expanded role she will assume the lead in driving business and marketing strategy for Windows devices, including Surface and partner devices, in addition to her current marketing and finance responsibilities.

Vince Hurley and his wife, Jacqui,  welcomed their second child, Teagan Marie, on June 27. Big sister Delaney has been very helpful taking care of her. They all enjoy living in Washington, D.C.

Vincent and Elizabeth Fortanasce welcomed their new baby girl, Ava Sophia Fortanasce, on May 9 during a lightening storm in Phoenix, Ariz. She weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces. Ava was born with long golden hair, her deep blue eyes wide open, looking around the room. She cried for five minutes, then heard her father’s voice, grabbed on to his hand, stopped crying and looked right into his eyes. It was a moment he will cherish forever. At four months old, she learned to smile her goofy toothless grin, to laugh and giggle, hold her bottle all by herself and has perfect health. They are planning a trip to New York soon to introduce her to the rest of the family. Kristina just completed her first quarter as a Ph.D. student in the social welfare program at UCLA and plans to research the impact of transnational migration on Latino families and children. As the first in her family to graduate from college and pursue an advanced degree, she feels fortunate to have been given this educational opportunity. Besides working as a graduate student researcher on campus, she is enjoying the vibrant art scene in Los Angeles, where she volunteers at SPARC, a mural arts center in Venice, Calif.

Jennifer and Ben welcomed their second daughter Sophia Marie into the world on Aug. 19. Older sister Isabella is excited to have a baby sister to play with. Jennifer and Ben are blessed to have two healthy beautiful daughters.

Chris became engaged to Emily Covington in September. They will be married in July at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Dana Point, Calif.

On Sept. 8, Bethany was engaged to Eric Miller while visiting with family on the Oregon coast. The couple is planning an April wedding in Maryland, where they both reside. Eric is a youth pastor at a local church, and Bethany works as membership development and services manager at the Greater Bethesda Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce.

Megan received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Davis, on Nov. 9. Her dissertation work focused on the MUTYH gene, which has been linked to a familial form of colorectal cancer. Megan applied for, and was awarded, a National Institutes of Health (NIH) T32 training grant for a postdoctoral position in the Microbiology Department at UC Davis. Her postdoctoral research will focus on the tumor suppressor protein BRCA2, and she will be working under the guidance of nationally recognized Wolf-Dietrich Heyer, the leader of the Molecular Oncology Program at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Megan plans to spend a few more years in training before starting her career in the field of cancer research.

Sheridan married Erik on Sept. 15 in Santa Barbara. Gael members of the wedding party were Eghosa Obaiza ’07 ECR ’09 and best man Michael Lineweaver ’03. Over 15 gael basketball player alums were in attendance. Sheridan teaches physical education at Mt. Eden High School in Hayward, Calif., and the couple resides in Oakland.

Don Mortensen, a Lodi realtor, substitute teacher for the Lodi Unified School District, and special events security guard for Admiral Security Services in Tracy, recently had the thrill of his lifetime. He held the giants world Series trophy for 25 minutes before handing it over to giants manager Bruce Brophy at the podium. Clark Atlanta University appointed Henry W. Taylor ML as vice president for institutional advancement and university relations. Henry has also held positions in fundraising at the KIPP Foundation, Stanford and Princeton universities, and Claremont McKenna College.

Andrea and Joseph met in their hometown high school, but it wasn’t until they both went to SMC that their relationship blossomed. They got engaged April 29 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and married in Las Vegas on August 15.

Robert Madsen EMBA retired from teaching after 25 years in 1983. He retired from private practice in psychology after 30 years in December 2010 and is now continuing research and writing on creativity, a continuation of his dissertation: “Rituals of Inspiration.”

Dr. Nicholas Aliotti is a private practice psychologist in Palm Desert, Calif., after an academic career in university teaching. He has two daughters, a new grandson, and recently enjoyed a cruise to Alaska with his wife and friends. Saint Mary’s was the start of his college years, and he always remembers the beauty of the college and the fun times with new friends.

Wayne Phillips M ’77 and wife, Katalin Voros, just got back from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Israel and Jordan. They swam in the warm Jordan River and the cold Red Sea. They went to Petra, filled with lots of flies. Visited with their grandkids in Hungary and got their passports checked passing through Slovakia to Poland (Krakow, Auschwitz, Birkenau). Dr. Fred Norman and wife Karen have relocated to Monterey, Calif., after celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary. Fred is retired after many years in family practice and geriatrics, and Karen retired after a long career as a teacher in Catholic schools in Stockton. Fred has recently reconnected with classmates Jesus Castañeda (best man at Fred and Karen’s wedding), John Devlin and Gerry Lyons.

Dan Orth recently released the album “Treasure” and a YouTube music video, “I Want Yo’ Number,” with his pop music band, Patton Leatha. He is also the owner of Lounge Renown Records and executive producer of the album and music videos. In 1978, his band, the Phil Phillips Band, recorded five songs with rock guitar ace Joe Satriani. He also co-wrote the two classic rock songs “Cruisin’ the Strip” and “Super Dose.”

Ronnie Binczewski has enjoyed living in Roseville, Calif., for the last 21 years. She established and operates Nautilus Montessori School (nautilusmontessori.com) from her home. Active in the early childhood community, she has presented at countless educational seminars and conferences and helped establish educational standards for the local school district. Pamela (Chisholm) and Bill Scholtz were married on Dec. 24, 2010, at San Francisco City Hall. In attendance were their three children, Maggie Scholtz and Nick and Claire Gould. Pam and Bill met on the East Coast in 2005 and traveled across the country in 2007, landing in Marin. Life is good!

Steve Caruso is the new president and CEO of Cottage Housing, Inc., a large nonprofit in Sacramento that operates transitional and permanent living communities for previously homeless families and individuals. He also became a grandfather on Nov. 15, 2010, with the arrival of Harper Maria Caruso to Steve’s son, Benjamin, and Benjamin’s girlfriend, Lindsey Wilson.

Elizabeth (Cesare) P ’88 and Glenn Siegel ’77 celebrated their 30th anniversary in April. As they watched William and Kate’s royal wedding, they recalled that 30 years ago, as newlyweds, they watched Charles and Diana get married. Glenn and she met at Saint Mary’s at a Christmas dance in December 1976. They were married five years later on April 25, 1981, in the Chapel. Saint Mary’s holds many loving memories for both of them.

Eduardo Torres is an associate professor of economics at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, Calif. This is a major life change for him after spending 25 years in corporate America as a private banker. He is married with one son and lives in San Jose.

Gretchen (Perrett) and Steve Bradvica took their kids to Shilla, Peru, in April to visit their eldest daughter, Emily, an ’08 graduate of the University of Portland who is finishing up her second year in the Peace Corps. Although the poverty is extreme, we enjoyed our time in Peru, seeing where Emily has lived the last two years, meeting the children and families she works with and touring the famous Incan sites.

John Mori and his wife had a child, Aiden, in February, who joins his older brother, Jayden, now 21 months old.

Patrick Hester was promoted to Americas vice president at Hewlett Packard in the Laserjet and Enterprise Solutions organization. He has worked at HP in various sales, marketing and executive management positions across the U.S. and Latin America. He resides in Boise, Idaho, and has two daughters: Madeline, who graduated in June from NYU, and Samantha, a junior at the University of Colorado-Boulder who studied for several months at the University of Santiago, Chile. He is an avid runner, cyclist and triathlete who has run the L.A. and Boston marathons, ridden in Ride the Rockies in Colorado and competed in the Boise 70.3 Ironman.

Lavonne (Garrison) Moore EE ’85, MBA ’89 started a family after graduating. More than 20 years and three states later, her oldest, Rick, is a Buckeye at Ohio State, and Matt and Rachel are in high school in Virginia. She has spent the past 20 years of motherhood serving as a soccer and hockey mom; Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader; school, community and church volunteer; chorister; substitute teacher; and tennis team captain. The skills learned at Saint Mary’s have helped immensely. She and Richard, her husband of 26 years, reside in Roanoke, Va.

Bob Lenz is CEO and co-founder of Envision Schools, a nonprofit that runs innovative public college prep high schools in the Bay Area. He celebrated Envision’s first SMC graduate, Kaleb Lawson ’11, and the Envision high school graduation of three future Gaels in the class of 2015.

Jeff Peters was promoted to battalion chief in October after serving as a captain on the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department for the last 10 years.

Lisa (Gildea) Wilson celebrates 20 years of marriage to Kevin Wilson. They were married on July 13, 1991, at Saint Mary’s Chapel. They are raising two daughters, ages 17 and 12, in Livermore. Lisa has been a California credentialed teacher for 20 years and currently teaches fourth grade at Arroyo Seco School in Livermore.

On June 27, Scott Eitelgeorge MA ’01 played as a guest guitarist for opening act Hormone during Judas Priest’s concert in Munich, Germany.

Stephen Maloney has been selling business intelligence and analytics software for 16 years and currently works at SAS trying to help the state government with problems in public safety and education and with fraud. He is happily married to his wife, Jana, and has two kids named Petra and Chase. He is proud of SMC and its evolution since he graduated in 1995 and excited about the strength of the rugby program, too. In summary, he believes that “God is a Gael!”

Cindy (Neander) Cooper recently celebrated 15 years as an auditor for the SEC and serves on the SMC Women in Philanthropy Committee.

Heather (Hayes) Betz was married on June 25, 2011, in Fairfax, Calif., surrounded by family, friends and a few fellow Gaels. She and her husband, Christian, along with their two daughters, will make their home in western Michigan. Heather also graduated in May with her Ph.D. in Kinesiology from Michigan State University. She will begin as an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Albion College this fall.

Tony White EE has just distributed his inaugural publication of “Verified Service Reports — Home Service Edition” in the west and south regions of St. Louis, Mo., in mid-July. Tony and Elizabeth White started this venture in October 2010 to provide St. Louis-area homeowners a resource for finding service contractors. White is also working on a similar publication for the Phoenix, Ariz., area.

Jennifer (Belloni) Winberry announces that after graduating from SMC, she went on to teach at Montessori de Terra Linda in Marin County, then taught first grade in Walnut Creek for 12 years. In July 2007, she married Matt Winbery in Lake Tahoe. She took the past year off to be with their daughter, Katelyn Elizabeth, who was born Aug. 18, 2010. She will return to teaching fifth grade part-time in the fall. She and Matt feel so blessed and love every minute with their daughter.

After successful careers in the pastorate and education, Donald Jones ME, ECR has been in private practice as a Christian pastoral counselor for the last several years. His office is located in Tracy. He specializes in biblical counseling. He and his beloved wife, Carol, have six grown children.

Gina Meneni is happy to report the birth of Nicolai (Meneni) McRoberts, born Feb. 18.

Kelly (Cole) Deitrick and her husband, Shams Deitrick, had a baby girl on April 21, 2011. She is named after her grand- mothers — Stella Elizabeth. She weighed in at 8 lbs., 13 oz. The new family of three is very happy and the parents are so proud! Kelly is on maternity leave from her position as a merchandise manager for Partycity.com and Shams is busy as a financial planner for Raymond James.

Allyson (Wiley) Weekes graduated from Saint Mary’s and then attended graduate studies in commercial photography. Allyson was recently named SFGate’s 2011 “Best Wedding Photographer” in its Best of the Bay competition. Allyson and her husband just welcomed a baby boy named Micah into their lives.

Torin Simpson and Chris Gargano ’90 were awarded a Northern California Emmy Award for their work on the documentary style television show “Inside the Clubhouse: The Journey.” They both work for the San Francisco Giants and the show captured the Giants run to a World Series championship. Chris is the senior director of marketing and entertainment and Torin is the senior video producer/editor.

Nicolette Clinton graduated with a B.A. in mathematics and received her master’s degree in education from the University of San Diego in May 2010. Nicolette completed her teacher certification studies at Sacramento State University and has been employed as a math teacher at Albert Einstein Middle School in San Diego for five years.

Maureen Sertich reports that since graduating with a B.S. in environmental science from Saint Mary’s, she received an M.S. in environmental management and sustainability and an MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2010. She has taken a new position as the sustainability standards specialist at NSF International in Ann Arbor, Mich. In her new position, she will be responsible for determining the criteria for sustainability standards for third-party certification of products and services.

Katie Krueger recently graduated from the University of South Carolina with an MFA in acting. She is back in the Bay Area this summer performing with Woman’s Will (the all-female Shakespeare Company) in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at various parks around the Bay. In the fall, Katie will move to Sacramento to work with the Acting Company at B Street Theatre.

Amber Ferrari and Jeff Ford were thrilled to welcome their daughter, Shelby Corrine, on May 1, 2011. While luckily spending a few months home in Ukiah with Shelby, Amber has been working for Kiewit since she graduated and is currently a project engineer at the I-405 freeway expansion project in Los Angeles.

Sabrina Titelbaum is proud to say that she has three granddaughters (3, 1 and 11 months), all living in Madison, Wis. And now she finally has a grandson, who lives in Antioch. Jaden Alexander Wilson was born July 16.

Erik Johnson received a master’s in public policy and administration from Sacramento State.

Allison Landa MFA completed her memoir and it is currently under consideration by several agents. She was a finalist in the She Writes Passion Project contest and is working as a freelance writer and tutor.

Coree Brown began her graduate degree in multilevel and regional politics at the School of Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh this fall.

Melissa Spahr reports that she will embark on a new journey after finishing two years as a Lasallian Volunteer in Philadelphia and the Bronx. This past summer she cycled across the country with fellow Lasallians (lvsride.com), starting in Oregon and finishing in New Jersey, to raise funds to end poverty. Shortly after the ride, she began graduate school at the University of California, Davis to study public health.

Brandon Elefante graduated from Chaminade University of Honolulu with an MBA in the public sector in May. He works as a legislative aide for the City and County of Honolulu.

Natalie Boltz closed escrow on her first home in her much-loved hometown of Benicia in February. She and longtime boyfriend William Wulff recently adopted a puppy and love every minute of owning a home. After a much-needed career change, Natalie rejoined the wine industry and accepted a position as general manager of operations and hospitality at Reynolds Family Winery, joining forces with fellow alumna Suzie Reynolds and her talented husband, Steve Reynolds.
