  Renaissance Notte in Piazza

  For a Renaissance Notte in Piazza (Night at the Court of the Medici), Saint Mary’s became Florence, the Court of Lorenzo de’ Medici, on Lorenzo’s birthday celebration.  Faculty members and students costumed as characters from different periods of the Renaissance converged in the Chapel for an authentic Renaissance experience of musical and dance performances.  Following the performance, participants and spectators alike were escorted to Dryden Hall to share in a celebration banquet including a fully-roasted pig, pasta, and tirimisu.

• State Legislators Meet With Students on Cal Grants

  State Senator Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord, and Democratic Assemblymembers Susan Bonilla of Concord, Joan Buchanan of Alamo and Nancy Skinner of Berkeley met with Saint Mary's students, including student government leaders and Cal Grant recipients, to discuss the threat to Cal Grant funding in the current state budget and what Cal Grants had meant to SMC students.
