gael athletic fund: Appeal from the Athletic Director
Thanks to continuing support from the Saint Mary’s family of alumni, parents, and fans, 2008-09 promises to be another exciting and successful year for Saint Mary’s College Athletics.
Saint Mary’s athletics enjoyed arguably one of our most successful seasons ever last year, both on the field and in the classroom, and rose to finish 5th in the West Coast Conference Commissioner’s Cup, our highest finish ever, while maintaining an all-sport cumulative GPA of 2.964.
2007-08 was highlighted by the following achievements:
- 17 student-athletes achieved WCC All-Academic team honors, 26 student-athletes were named All-WCC honorees, and 89 student-athletes were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll
- Coaches Lisa Alipaz, Randy Bennett, Scott Hardy and Michael Wayman were named WCC Coach of the Year in their respective sports
- Men’s basketball, golf, men’s tennis and women’s tennis were nationally ranked at various points of their season, while golf and men’s basketball teams both advanced to the NCAA Championships
- Rugby advanced to the Division I National Championship Semifinals and finished ranked 2nd in the country
To continue achieving this kind of success, we need your help. Your support of the Gael Athletic Fund helps us offer scholarships to the best high school players from around the world and also gives our coaches essential funds for travel and outfitting for our athletes to compete against top NCAA programs.
All gifts are valuable, but please consider a gift or a pledge of $500, $1,000, or President's Club entry level of $1,500 to provide assistance for our most worthy student-athletes. Pledge payments can be monthly or quarterly, at your convenience. Your support proves that you, as I, believe in Saint Mary's ability to produce outstanding young men and women.
