Graduate Student Employment Opportunities

Many of our graduate students work for our Athletic Department or with the Department of Recreational Sports at UC Berkeley and at other local sport agencies.

Two to three paid graduate positions are available as a part of our collaboration with the Department of Recreational Sports at UC Berkeley.  These are half-time jobs at UCB.  To qualify,  prospective students must be selected/hired by the department at UCB.  A few additional positions are sometimes available through the SMC Athletic Department. To qualify, prospective students must be hired by the Athletic Department.  One other  position is available each year to oversee the departmental website. Interested students should contact the graduate Kinesiology Director.

Incoming Scholarships

Limited number of scholarships are available for incoming students in the form of tuition reduction.

In order for a student to receive this scholarship, he/she must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.75 and clear evidence in the application that the prospect is an exemplary student and a potential leader in the field. To apply for this scholarship, submit an email to Craig Johnson (cjohnson@stmarys-ca.edu) and Bill Manning (wmanning@stmarys-ca.edu) outlining your intent and qualification.

Graduate Kinesiology Scholarship

Every year, students who have completed 15 units or more and have demonstrated exceptional academic and professional excellence are awarded the Graduate Kinesiology Scholarship. The award dinner was held this year at the Soda Center on April 11th, 2013.
