Jeffrey Jaymot, Incoming Student Scholarship Recipient
Jeffrey is an aspiring college Kinesiology professor and college coach who received his B.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Physical Education from Sacramento State. He has worked within a variety of athletic settings spanning from middle school to junior college athletics. Currently, he coaches boys' and girls' varsity tennis at Pinole Valley High School and is the men's assistant tennis coach at Diablo Valley College.
Sebastian Lindemann, Incoming Student Scholarship Recipient
Sports and fitness has always played a central role in Sebastian's life. He was a collegiate track athlete his first year of college, moved on to play football his second year and finished coaching the soccer club his third and final year. Sebastian's first major in college was Exercise Science, which he decided to steer away from for Organizational Leadership. He was planning on pursuing a career in business. Last year Sebastian got accepted to pursue an MBA; he turned it down to work for a year. He is glad he did so. During this year he found his way back to the fitness industry. Sebastian is currently working for a “start up” personal training company as a director of personal training. The Kinesiology program at Saint Mary’s appears to be a great fit for him due to the intense schedule, quality of education and structure of the program.
Haley McCollough, Incoming Student Scholarship Recipient
Haley grew up in the Bay Area, where she would attend St. Mary’s basketball and softball games with her family. She loves being outdoors; hiking, watching sports, and playing sports. In May, Haley will graduate with her bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Chico State, with minors in Health and Wellness, and Exercise Science. So far, she has enjoyed all the Kinesiology courses she has taken, and is excited to continue her education in that area. At Chico State, Haley coached a middle school basketball team and was an active member of her sorority. She cannot wait to attend St. Mary’s and embark on all the opportunities that are offered.
Esteban Roman, Incoming Student Scholarship Recipient
Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, Esteban chose to complete his bachelor’s degree at The University of Tampa located in Tampa, Florida. He made the decision to pursue his degree in sport management because of his passion for not just sports in general, but for the business of sport specifically. The greatest accomplishment in Esteban's career thus far was completing his bachelor’s degree in three and a half years with a cumulative GPA of 3.70 while making the Dean’s List for three separate semesters and graduating with honors (Cum Laude). He chose to enroll in the Sport Management Concentration of the Graduate Kinesiology Program at SMC to continue to expand on his undergraduate education while building on his network and résumé with hopes of obtaining an enjoyable and lucrative career within the sports industry. Esteban's career goals are to (1) obtain an internship with a professional sports organization in the Bay Area during his enrollment at SMC and then to (2) secure a full-time job in the marketing department of a professional sports organization within two months after the completion of my master’s degree.
