To make your application process smoother, below are some important things to know as an international applicant.

Online Application

Please fill out an online application as the first step to starting your application process. Once that has been submitted please complete and mail the following application packet.

The best way to apply as an international student is to complete everything and send it as one packet (except for the official transcript, which should be sent directly from your university).

Here is what should be in the packet:

1. Packet Coversheet (2016-2017)

2. Official Transcript of a Bachelor's Degree

3. Transcript Evaluation

4. TOEFL or IELTS score report

5. Previous I-20 or immigration status documentation

6. Copy of Passport

7. Statement of Financial Resources

The Center for International Programs (CIP) is ready to assist international students with questions about study abroad, international student visas, insurance coverage, International Club membership, Global Living and Learning Community placement and much more. 

The Center is the home for international students at Saint Mary's and is the first stop that international student make on campus. CIP staff assists students with a variety of needs including immigration and visa advisement, academic advisement, and adjustment to campus life. The CIP provides an interactive orientation program, academic counseling, tutorial services, and social and intercultural communication programs. As home for the SMC International Club, the Center is the place to gather and meet students from a number of countries.

How to get Transcript Evaluation:

In order to evaluate your transcript, we need to know how it corresponds to a bachelors degree from US accredited university. Here are some places you can get your transcript evaluated:

TOEFL and IELTS Score Requirements

Applicants who received their undergraduate degree overseas must complete either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) examination or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination. For the TOEFL examination, applicants must achieve a minimum score of: 550 Paper Based, 213 Computer Based, or 79 - 80 New Internet Based to be considered for admission. Please submit a scan or printed copy of the score report.

Applicants who choose to take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in place of the TOEFL examination must have a minimum 6.5 IELTS score to be considered for admission. Please submit a scan or printed copy of the score report.
