Limited Support

Information Technology Services (IT Services) will provide minimal support for the products listed in this section.  This support will be scheduled as time permits and will not take precedence over Core Institute Support products (see above).
  
Limited Support products have the following characteristics:  

• The use of these products serves the interests of SMC  
• IT Services was involved in the purchase and installation of these products
• Support must be cost-effective  
• Valid licenses exist   
• Hardware support is subject to parts availability and approval of cost recovery from the department requesting the service  
• IT Services does not guarantee that these products or systems will work (or will continue to work) in the SMC environment

Limited Support Products

• All platforms:
• Microsoft Office Products (the version preceding the latest version only) :
• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft PowerPoint
• Microsoft Outlook
• Web browsers (the version preceding the latest version only):
• FireFox
• Email clients (the version preceding the latest version only):
• Thunderbird  
• Utilities (the version preceding the latest version only)
• Adobe Acrobat Reader
• Adobe Creative Suite (version 5.x)
• IBM SPSS (latest version)
• Macintosh Computers:
• Operating System:
• Mac OS X (one but last release)
• Hardware:
• All SMC purchased Apple computer systems that are eligible for replacement as long as they have been upgraded to at least the one but last release of the OS
• Software
• Apple Final Cut (latest version)
• Windows Computers:
• Operating System:
• Windows (one but last release)
• Hardware:
• All SMC purchased Dell cmputer systems that are eligible for replacement as long as they have been upgraded to at least the one but last release of the OS
• Software
• Mat Lab
• Datatel Client (deprecated - please use web based version)
• Printers
• Personal laser printers (non-networked or single user)
