The Hindu Business Line reported on a presentation by Saint Mary's management professor Jyoti Bachani on "Jugaad," the cultural tradition of frugal innovation in India. Bachani, who teaches in the College's graduate business program, recently spoke at the annual Yale - Great Lakes International Research Conference in Chennai, India, where she presented her paper "Jugaad: An Indo American perspective on India ingenuity."
The SEBA professor was awarded a Fulbright in 2011 to study how the practice of jugaad has contributed to the rise of India as a global economic power. Bachani's comments on jugaad were available to a potentially large audience; one of the most widely read business news sources, the Hindu Business Line's has 17 news editions and its online presence garners more than four million page views per month.
