Huffington Post cultural critic and contributor Dean Hader reviewed Seasonal Works with Letters on Fire, the latest book of poetry from Saint Mary's English professor and acclaimed poet Brenda Hillman. Hader, a poet and professor at the University of San Francisco, lavishes praise on Hillman's work, calling it "a profoundly humane work" filled with "language that moves from the chatty to the experimental to the heightened to the rhetorical, Hillman shows us once again that poetry is itself a tireless worker, always already on our behalf." Brenda Hillman is the The Olivia C. Filippi Professor of Poetry at Saint Mary's and the director of the College's MFA Program in Creative Writing. Seasonal Works with Letters on Fire was named to the longlist for the 2013 National Book Award for Poetry. Read the the Huffington Post article "What Poetry Can Do: Brenda Hillman & Geoffrey G.
