Giancarlo Trevisan, former rowing coach at Saint Mary's College of California and a member of the College's Athletics Hall of Fame, passed away on May 13, 2008.
Mr. Trevisan coached men's crew from 1977 to 1999 and led the Gaels' crew program to four Pacific Coast Championships, as well as several Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association medal finishes. He also coached 1984 U.S. national champion Victor Bruni â€˜83.
"Giancarlo's first love was always rowing and the Saint Mary's students," said Mr. Trevisan's widow, Marianne. "Recently he was never happier than when he was talking to rowers about their past achievements."
Mr. Trevisan received Saint Mary's College Athletics highest honor in 2006 when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He is fondly remembered by all of his former student-athletes.
Services are scheduled for Monday, May 19. There will be a viewing at Grissoms Chapel and Mortuary, located at 267 East Lewelling Boulevard in San Lorenzo, CA, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow at noon at St. John Catholic Church, located at 264 East Lewelling Boulevard.
