Inside Higher Ed spoke with Saint Mary's Provost Beth Dobkin about the academic importance of January Term for the outlet's story "Questioning Value of 'Janterm." The article follows the decision of Doane College, located in Crete, Nebraska, to end its January Term in 2015. Among other things, the provost noted Jan Term for Saint Mary's illustrates in many ways how a liberal arts curriculum can work well, providing innovative academic challenges for students and study abroad opportunities for students who may not have the option for academic travel during spring and fall terms.
