To the Saint Mary’s College Community of Faculty, Staff, and Students,
Saint Mary’s College of California will be honoring Brother Gustavo Ramírez Barba, FSC on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. He will receive an honorary doctorate in educational leadership at the Academic Convocation held during the College’s annual celebration of De La Salle Week.
During his visit to the College, Brother Gustavo has generously agreed to lead a retreat for our Spanish-speaking community members on Tuesday, April 24, similar to one he led last year.
Brother Gustavo is being recognized for his many accomplishments in higher education, which include serving as Visitor of the District of North Mexico; regional executive secretary of the Lasallian Latin American Region; president of Universidad La Salle Noroeste in Sonora, Mexico; regional director for Mexican and Central American Lasallian Universities; director of education and director of the Lasallian Leadership Program in the District of North Mexico; and for his service on the International Council for Lasallian Educational Mission in Rome and on the Board of Trustees of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
The Convocation will begin at 12:45 p.m. in the Saint Mary’s College Chapel, during which time Brother Gustavo will receive his honorary Ed.D. and give an address to the campus community on the theme “Together and by Association.” There will be a reception in the Soda Center immediately following the Convocation at which our faculty, staff, students and guests will have an opportunity to visit with Brother Gustavo informally.
I invite and encourage you to attend and to help honor Brother Gustavo as an outstanding Lasallian leader.
Brother Ronald Gallagher, FSC
