What: The January Term Speaker series in support of the January Term theme "What Next?" debuts with Oakland-based spoken word/hip-hop artist Ise Lyfe's presentation; "Pistols and Prayers," a lecture/performance about joy, danger, resilience and spirituality in Urban America. He will address the irony in wars (pistols) fought between nations who profess deep religious foundations (prayers) but compete vigorously to kill each other. Who: In addition to his work in hip-hop and spoken word, Ise Lyfe is an innovator in business, as he is the owner, founder, and executive director of Lyfe Productives – a company whose main emphases are to create a popular culture of consciousness and to find ways to make both standard and alternative education provocative for young people growing up in the inner-city.
When: Wednesday, January 6, from 7-9 p.m.
Where: Saint Mary's College of California, 1928 St. Mary's Rd., Moraga.
