Who: Damali Ayo is an artist, author and leadership facilitator. She is a keen observer of culture and has a passion for helping people evolve in order to make the world a better place. Her books, lectures and workshops take one of our culture's toughest topics-race-and deal with it by using comedy. She is a yoga teacher and Reiki master and has spent many years working for social change. Her work has been featured in more than 100 publications, including the Village Voice, Washington Post and Salon.com.
The annual January Term Speaker Series, brings important cultural and intellectual leaders to campus to share their views on thought-provoking issues. This year's theme -- NEW HISTORIES: RELIVING, RETHINKING, REMAKING -- invites reflection, critical analysis ... and action. Each presentation asks, in its own way, "How might we capitalize on what we know to see the future in new and different ways?"
