To celebrate the Vigil of the Feast of Pentecost, on Saturday, June 7, at 7 p.m., Saint Giles’ Episcopal Church will be offering an Anglo-Orthodox Vespers service in the SMC Chapel (in the side Brother's Chapel). The name ‘vespers’ comes from the Greek word espera and the Latin word vesper, meaning ‘evening.’ In the Anglican tradition this service is often referred to as Evening Prayer or Evensong. It will follow the structure used in Byzantine or Eastern Orthodox Churches and will be almost entirely chanted. Incense and icons will be used. To learn more about Anglo-Orthodoxy, visit the Society for Eastern Rite Anglicanism. All are welcome to attend!
