KABC-TV/Los Angeles Interviews Politics' Ron Ahnen About Developments in Prison Hunger Strike
The Los Angeles ABC affiliate KABC-TV interviewed Politics Professor Ron Ahnen about the ongoing hunger strike in California's prison system. The strike, which has resulted in more than 50 case of inmates seeking medical care, is to protest several prison policies; in particular, long term solitary confinement.
Ahnen is also president of California Prison Focus - a human rights advocacy group working to abolish the state’s prison system in its present condition. He is part of a mediation group that will meet with the commissioner of the California Department of Corrections and will try to convince state officials to end the strike by ending indefinite solitary confinement.
