KTVU-TV interviewed SEBA global marketing professor Tomas Gomez-Arias for a story about climate change affecting a fast food chain's menu. Last month Chipotle filed a quarterly statement with the SEC. The filing referenced how climate changes could possibly impact its menu.
Reports about the reference soon appeared online in the form of concern that the chain could be forced to stop serving items like guacamole and salsa. Soonafter, a Twitter hashtag for #guacapocalypse gathered steam. While Gomez-Arias assured KTVU there was little reason to worry about access to guacamole, he did acknowledge that companies are increasingly noting the impact of climate change on products and services in their financial filings.
