AAC&U Core Commitments: Educating Students for Personal & Social Responsibility
Patricia King, University of Michigan
Professor, Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education
Patricia’s research focuses on learning and development among late adolescents and adults, including college students. She is especially interested in approaches to student development that explore the intersections among developmental domains, such as intellectual, identity and social development, and how these affect collegiate outcomes ranging from citizenship to intercultural maturity to character development. She serves as the Principal Investigator for the University of Michigan team for the Wabash National Study of Liberal Arts Education. She is also a consulting scholar for AAC&U’s Core Commitments project.
Jillian Kinzie, Indiana University
Associate Director, Center for Postsecondary Research & NSSE Institute
Jillian coordinates the NSSE Institute project activities. Her
doctorate is from Indiana University in higher education with a minor in women's studies. Jillian transitioned to the NSSE staff from the faculty at IU where she coordinated the master's program in higher education and student affairs from 2000-2002. She has more than a decade of additional experience as a research associate and administrative work in academic and student affairs. Jillian's research interests include college choice, first year student development, teaching and learning in college, access and equity, and women in underrepresented fields.
