lasallian student leaders program
A student leadership development program sponsored by the District of San Francisco, in partnership with Saint Mary’s College, for students from Lasallian High Schools. The Assistant Dean for Mission participates on the planning committee and facilitates the involvement and support of College programs and departments during the summer Program.
Lasallian Student Leaders is a 1 -week summer program for secondary-school students who are active in or planning to play a role in student leadership at their schools in the coming year. Participating students are typically invited by their school through the student government or campus ministry programs. The Lasallian Student Leaders gathering for 2006 will take place July 16 through 21 at Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga.
The Lasallian Student Leaders (LSL) program is designed to help participants to:
- Become principled and mission-centered leaders for Lasallian schools and schools which share a second charism.
- Develop the necessary skills for effective school leadership.
- Learn skills for specific school areas and tasks.
- Plan and prepare to provide leadership and programs in their school community for the upcoming year.
- Establish collaborative working relationships with individuals and programs within and outside of their school community.
LSL typically has drawn students from the following areas of campus life:
- Student government elected or appointed leaders, especially the ASB executive council (it is recommended that those elected to specific offices be expected to take part in LSL)
- Student leaders engaged in Campus Ministry
- Student leaders who serve as Yearbook Editors
- Student leaders in other key areas: athletics, drama, music, peer counseling, etc.
