Breadth. Depth. Integration.
The Liberal and Civic Studies major seeks the education of the whole person. In addition to traditional academic goals, it fosters the development of a disciplined mind, one that honors the great ideas of the past, examines ideas across disciplines, and strives to understand the important issues facing today's world from multiple perspectives.
The Liberal & Civic Studies Program is based on the three following principles:
Breadth through a balance of required Liberal & Civic Studies Program core courses, along with additional courses in the social sciences, mathematics, laboratory sciences, humanities, fine arts, and religious studies.
Depth fostered by an interdisciplinary curriculum content approach that weaves together critical thinking, local and global perspectives, leadership and civic responsibility -- enhanced by service-learning experiences.
Integration achieved through an rigorous fusion of course work, assessments, and cross-discipline interactions.
