Many of the services offered by the SMC Library are available to you while you are studying abroad. These are available through the SMC Library homepage.
Click on the Ask-Us link on the Library's home page. Students may use the Ask a Librarian service to send an email message to a reference librarian. You can also use IM (Chat). Be sure to indicate that you are a Study Abroad student. You may also follow the link to the list of subject librarians to find the email for the librarian in your subject area.
Articles and Databases
You may access the databases by using the Databases link. Scroll through the alphabetical list of databases or search the name of a database. You will be prompted for your SMC username and password. Many of these databases offer full-text articles that can be accessed directly and printed or downloaded.
Choose a subject from the Subject Guide list from the homepage. These pages list databases and Web resources appropriate to particular subjects. They also have the contact information for the subject librarian.
Document Delivery and ILLiad
While searching our databases you may find articles that are not available full-text. You may still be able to obtain this material by using ILLiad. Articles will be posted electronically to your account, which is accessible using your SMC username and password. Please indicate in the NOTES field of your article request that you are studying abroad. Sorry, but we are not able to send books through the mail to you while you are abroad. However, we may be able to scan a few pages of a book within copyright guidelines.
Please contact Patty Wade at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have further questions.
