*Please note, reference books, periodicals, and special collections cannot be checked out from the library. Course reserves, the textbook collection, the collegiate seminar collection, and the test collection have different loan policies. For community borrowers, the library does not check out audio visual (AV) materials.

**Notification is by e-mail for any overdue or lost materials. While the average replacement fee for a book is $75 plus a non-refundable billing fee, some items such as SMC Dissertations or instructional videos are billed at a much higher rate.

Alumni and community borrowers may purchase a library card. For alumni, the annual fee is $10. The annual fee for community borrowers is $75. Spouses, partners, and children (16 and up) of current faculty and staff may apply for a free library card. Alumni database access to Vault Career Intelligence and Project MUSE is free for all alumni. Please request a login.
