Borrowing Library Materials
Use Albert to locate materials in the SMC collection. The loan period for faculty is one semester for most material. Reference, periodicals, and special collections cannot be checked-out from the library. Most books can be renewed up to three times in person at the Circulation desk, by calling (925) 631-4229, or renewing online from our homepage. Notification is by e-mail for any overdue or lost materials and the replacement fee for any lost items is $75 plus a non-refundable billing fee. Please call the Circulation desk at (925) 631-4229 for more information.
Create an ILLiad account to request, track, and get material from anywhere you have internet access. Articles and book chapters are usually posted to your account within a week. Books can be picked up at the Circulation desk within a month. Call (925) 631-4840 for more information.
Document Delivery and Link+
We will scan and deliver print material located in the library usually within a week. We will also mail our library books to your home address. Document delivery is provided through our ILLiad service. Please call (925) 631-4840 for more information.
Looking for books and videos outside the SMC collection? Use Link+. Requested materials usually come within 3-5 days.
Each academic department and program has a subject librarian committed to assisting faculty, students and staff of that department. Subject librarians work with faculty in the departments to build collections and collaborate in the development of information literacy goals and curriculum. Subject librarians also consult one-on-one with faculty. Please see the Library Instruction page to see examples of things that librarians can do.
Does your course require students to do research? Remind your students that the Library is here to help! Feel free to use our Syllabus Statement in full or in part in your syllabi, Moodle sites, or assignment sheets.
