Courses Recently Taught:
- New Stories - I founded New Stories in 2000 and currently serve as its Vice President. New Stories is engaged in a variety of projects which use narrative and story as pathways for envisioning alternatives for the future
- Resilient Japan - A current focus in my work is supporting the emergence of a new Japan after the devastation of the triple disasters of March 11, 2011. My Resilient Japan blogs, now part of the New Stories website, share some of my experience.
- The Berkana Institute - I served on Berkana's Board of Directors from 2001-2011 and was Co-President from 2004-2009. Much of my learning about leadership comes from work in the Berkana field. Berkana was co-founded in 1992 by Margaret Wheatley after she wrote "Leadership in the New Sciences" and has been a pioneer in taking a living systems approach to understanding and advancing leadership.
- The Transformation Institute - I've just started the Transformation Institute as a broad platform for supporting transformative work. My own emphasis is on how to work from systems collapse and disaster to move to resilience and transformation. My particular geographic focus is the Pacific Rim.
