Men's lacrosse was featured in the April 2012 edition of Inside Lacrosse magazine, which detailed the Gaels' potential participation in the MCLA National Tournament. The Gaels are continuing to have a very positive season, leading many to think their acceptance into the tournament at the end of the season in Greenville, S.C. is looking very promising.
The Gaels' feature is below:
"The potential newcomers to the National Tournament in Division II are St. Mary's and Concordia. St. Mary's has been playing with a chip on it's shoulder for three seasons, and with good reason. The Gaels have won the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League championship the past two seasons, but with each championship came the bittersweet reality that the WCLL doesn't guarantee an AQ because of its membership.
A 14-4 record in 2011 was good, but not good enough based on strength of schedule. The four losses were telling-three were to teams ranked in the at-large drop zone. For the Gaels to make their case for a trip to Greenville, S.C. this season, they have to fare better against those teams in 2012. The schedule has the required strength of the schedule, but doe the Gaels have the wins to impress?" (Lynch)
