Men's Crew is set to race at the Head of the American (Oct 27), at Newport's NARF (Nov 4), and at the Head of the Lagoon (Nov 11) for the Fall Season. Men's Crew saw their best performance in last year in a 2nd place finish, at the Sacramento State invite, behind 1st place Sonoma.
This year rowing will schedule a number of races across the country that will continue to build the team into a national contender.
As of right now the team is working on building a successful novice eight boat and a competitive varsity 4. "With the talent that has come to us so far this is a plausible goal," explains Labar. "We are looking forward to our 2k season in the spring were we will compete with Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Cal Long Beach, University of Pacific, and others."
When asked about what he loves about the sport of rowing, Labarr said "Successful rowing relies on the full concentration of the team, as well as the individual," explains team leader, Don Labar. "This almost zen like feeling kicks in when everyone is clicking and the boat is gliding across the water. It is indescribable."
