A four-year labor contract with the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) expires on June 30, 2013. As early as July 1, BART union workers may strike, causing a disruption in BART service.
Commuters who depend on BART should make alternative commute arrangements as soon as possible. 511 provides a variety of options.
As a commuter, you already know that ridesharing is an ideal alternative. We encourage you to tell co-workers, neighbors and friends about carpooling. If you have space in your carpool, offer them a ride or tell them about the 511 RideMatch Service.
The free 511 RideMatch Service is an online program that matches commuters with similar routes and schedules. Simply create, or update your online profile and contact potential partners via e-mail or telephone. At 511, we maintain a database of employer addresses, BART stations, train stops, ferries, pick-up locations and other landmarks to or from where you can carpool--even if you don't know the specific address.
With the 511 RideMatch Service you can easily join or start a new carpool or vanpool that is traveling in your direction. For easy carpool pick-up locations, there are more than 150 conveniently-located Park & Ride lots in the Bay Area. Click here to find the lot nearest you.
For additional assistance visit 511.org or call 511 and say "Rideshare" to speak to a Rideshare operator Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 6:00 pm.
