Message to Sain Mary's College Community on First Day in Office

Dear Members of the Saint Mary's College Community,

I'm so pleased to be writing to you on my first day as president of Saint Mary's College. I am honored and excited about being here. Both my wife, Jane, and I have felt so welcomed by the Saint Mary's community as we prepared for this day.

During the past two months I have had the opportunity to meet with individuals from across the College—Brothers, students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and donors—and I truly believe we are an institution poised to build on the wonderful strengths that have made us distinctive. I will spend the next several months getting to know you, listening and learning so that we can envision the next phase of Saint Mary's success together.

On a personal note, I wanted to let you know that later in July long planned travel to visit family on the East Coast will take Jane and me away from campus for a couple of weeks.

I was drawn to the College for its academic, Catholic and Lasallian mission, but I am quickly learning that those are only a few of the attributes of the College that make it a special place. I look forward to becoming a part of this wonderful community.
