We actively seek ways to nurture the liturgical life of the College Community and foster opportunities for spiritual development through prayer experiences.   Masses, as well as College liturgies, provide a viable witness to the Catholic identity and sacramental life of the College Community.

Mass of the Holy Spirit

In keeping with a long tradition dating from the founding of the great European universities in the Middle Ages, Saint Mary's College of California celebrates the Mass of the Holy Spirit at the start of each academic year. During this  Eucharistic  Liturgy we ask for the inspiration, guidance, and presence of God's Spirit on all of our campus activities. This festive event gathers the entire College community.  We begin with invocations representing some of our diverse faith traditions, and we end with a blessing as we rededicate ourselves to Saint Mary's mission, renew friendships, and welcome new members of our college community

The College Community celebrates the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit on Wednesday, September 7th, at 12:45pm. This first Shared Mission Community Time of the 2011-2012 academic year affords the College the opportunity to gather in a spirit of faith and community in the Chapel  and to call forth blessings on the beginning of the academic year.
