Course Descriptions: Mandarin
We currently have two Mandarin courses: Introductory and Intermediate.
Mandarin I (T-TH 4:30-6:30) – Introductory Mandarin introduces basic Chinese Mandarin language and Chinese culture to true beginning learners, focusing on Mandarin speaking in real life situations. The course is designed particularly for students who have not had an opportunity to learn a non-European language before.
Mandarin III (T-TH 7:00-9:00) – This Intermediate Chinese course is a continuation of Mandarin 1 and 2. Students will strengthen their knowledge of the Mandarin language and Chinese culture. The emphasis will be on using the language in a wider range of everyday situations. By the end of the course, students will know how to write 400 simplified characters, and should be able to engage successfully in basic conversations in a variety of social situations. They will have a good understanding of the most important features of Chinese culture.
