Alumni Board President David Johnson '84 welcomed seven new directors for 2010-2011. The board helps the alumni association and the College by exploring and supporting avenues of mutual engagement and service.
Hayden Perry '96 pursued a career in brand management and new product marketing, and has helped to build several great Bay Area consumer brands, including Aidells Sausage, Williams Sonoma and Peet's Coffee and Tea. Perry, who has an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, consults with companies that are launching new products. She lives in Larkspur with her husband, Zack, and their daughter, Anastasia.
William M. Orr MBA '04 is executive vice president for the Racepoint Group, a global public relations and digital communications firm. For nearly two decades, Orr has led reputation, public relations and digital initiatives for eBay, Hewlett Packard, Mattel, Hasbro, Leapfrog Enterprises, Bayer, General Motors, Clif Bar, Major League Baseball and Nestle. He and his wife Janine, live in Walnut Creek, with their children, Colby, 11, Mckenzie, 9, and Brady, 3.
Warren E. Parker '87 works for State Farm Insurance. He has been a high school football coach for more than 18 years and is an assistant coach at Miramonte High School. Parker and Ryan Seto '91 run Playmaker Football Skills Clinics during summers for high school and youth football players. Parker is in the SMC Black Alumni Chapter and the Football Alumni group. He and his wife, Allison, have three daughters, Sterling, 9, Skyler, 6, and Sadie, 5.
Martha Niland '79 has worked in human resources in three major financial institutions doing employee relations, compensation, training and recruiting; she maintains contact with SMC's placement office for job applicants from the College. Niland is now the human resources manager for Wells Fargo Bank in the Greater Bay Division. She has an MBA from Golden Gate University. She lives in Walnut Creek with her husband, Roger Allen, and has a daughter and a son.
J.P. McDermott MBA '90 is an insurance advisor with MassMutual Financial Group. He has held senior manager positions at AT&T, Pacific Bell and SBC. McDermott has volunteered on many nonprofit boards, including Diablo Theatre Company, the executive board of Junior Achievement of the Bay Area, Job Connections and the Saint Mary's Graduate School of Business Alumni Chapter. He is on the town of Danville's Arts Commission.
Ginny Hair '84 works in food public relations and launched her own agency in 1995. Today, Echo Communications' clients include Semifreddi's, Del Monte Foods, Teacake Bakeshop, the California Cling Peach Board, the Apricot Producers of California and organic food accounts. Hair also serves on the Foundation Board of the Oakland Zoo and is a member of the School Nutrition Associaton. Hair lives in Orinda with her husband, Steve Epstein, and her daughter Jesse, 12, and son Adam, 9.
Frank Howard Jr. '79 is president and CEO of Howard Consulting Group, a public affairs and government relations firm with offices in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco and an affiliate office in London. He also has management partner interest in Global Strategic Partners, GSP Aviation and HCG Venture Partners. He lectures on public affairs advocacy, health care communications and political campaigning. He is very active in politics, health advocacy and rugby union football.
