SMC Bulletin
College Communications sends the SMC Bulletin, the official SMC e-newsletter, to all faculty, staff and students each Monday morning.
The bulletin includes announcements from College leaders as well as news stories and information about upcoming events. Ideally, bulletin items include hyperlinks to stories, letters or event listings posted on the Saint Mary's website (www.stmarys-ca.edu).
Submitting an Item for the Bulletin
Submit your SMC Bulletin using our online submission form.
For an upcoming event, include the date, time and location along with a one-sentence description. In some instances, you may want to provide a contact person (for example, if people need to RSVP). For a news item, include a one-sentence description of the award or news story and include the names of students, staff and faculty members involved.
Submissions should be made by Wednesday at 5 p.m. and anything submitted after the Wednesday deadline might not be included in the next Monday's bulletin.
The bulletin will run each item once, usually in the week before an event takes place. The earliest an event announcement will run is two weeks before the event or RSVP deadline. Shorter follow-up event reminders can run in the "Community Events" listings during the week of the event.
Due to space limitations, announcements need to be less than 50 words. We encourage people to post longer announcements on their program's website and send us the link to include in the bulletin. If you have questions about posting something to the website, contact Mike Jung at mej3@stmarys-ca.edu.
College Communications will contact you if we need more information about your bulletin submission. We do not run announcements about non-College events or projects. Our office will contact you if we are not going to run an announcement you have submitted. We may edit the announcement for length, style and clarity.
