June 26, 2009Patrick Mills Selected by Portland Trail Blazers in NBA Draft
Former Gaels point guard Patrick Mills was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round of the NBA draft on June 25. Mills, who is the first Saint Mary’s player since 1983 to be drafted, Mills gave up his final two seasons at Saint Mary’s to pursue his dream of playing in the NBA. During his two years at the College, the Australian Olympian was named First Team-All-West Coast Conference twice. He was also the WCC Freshman of the Year in 2008 and a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, which honors the nations top point guard.SMCGaels.com article
