October 25, 2009Saint Mary's Alumnus Appointed President of Thomas Aquinas College
Saint Mary's College alumnus Michael F. McLean '68 became the fourth president of Thomas Aquinas College on Oct. 24, 2009. Members of the Board of Governors of Thomas Aquinas College appointed McLean president of the 38-year old institution at their fall meeting last week. McLean succeeds interim president Peter L. DeLuca who took the office in April after the death of former president Thomas E. Dillon '68. The school's president for 18 years, Dillon died in a tragic automobile accident while traveling.McLean holds a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Saint Mary's College and a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. He has been a member of Aquinas' teaching faculty since 1978 and has served in a number of capacities at the college. In addition to his role as assistant dean for student affairs, McLean served as vice president for development, and for the past six years, dean of the college and member of its Board of Governors.
