| Rey Paladini, a doctor, has written an 18-page opus on 1940s Saint Mary’s football. Rey was back-up to Herman Wedemeyer, the all-American triple-threat back who could run, pass and punt. Paladini remembers: “Wedemeyer wasn’t all that big — 5´10˝, 173 pounds — but when he hit you, he exploded with the force of a much bigger player.” |
