A memorial service to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks began with the lighting of a "flame of remembrance" on the Chapel Lawn at 8 p.m., followed by a special Mass. The SMC Republican Club, in collaboration with ASSMC, created a memorial on the Chapel Lawn by placing nearly 3,000 flags to commemorate all who died in Manhattan, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
