Lysley Tenorio on Heading to Rome

TenorioProfessor Lysley Tenorio, recent winner of the Rome Fellowship in Literature Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, spoke with Jeff Marcus Wheeler, M.F.A. Fiction ’15, about his upcoming year in Rome. Tenorio discusses his ideal writing day, what he’s packing, and the importance of place in his work.

Cal Grant Will Not Be Cut

Governor Jerry Brown signed a $115.4 billion budget for 2015-16 which fully funds the Cal Grant for the private nonprofit sector. This avoids a potential 11.3 percent cut as proposed in January. The state legislature postponed the 11.3 percent cut for the next two years allowing the maximum award for Cal Grant A to remain at $9,044 and for Cal Grant B at $1,656 for new students.
