The Center aims to expand its initiatives into new areas in which public policy and religious pluralism are linked.  Two on which we have set our sights are:

Religion and K-12 Education:

The issue of equity in the representation of the world's religions in K-12 textbooks is important to promote understanding and cooperation among students of many faiths. The question the Center will be addressing is: How can or should public schools teach religion in a way that takes account of religious pluralism and secular interests in a respectful and fair way?

Also, many in the public square have noted a cultural trend toward moral relativity. "Everyone has their own morality" is a frequently recited phrase heard among young people. The questions the Center expects to address are: In an effort to teach tolerance, has K-12 educational curriculum failed to highlight common religious and secular values?  What common values ought to be fostered in education for citizenship?

Heroes and Sheroes

This future project is a website project that will provide brief notes about women and men who have been on the frontlines in the battle for religious rights for people in minority faiths in a variety of contexts. If visitors to our site have suggestions for persons who should be honored in this way, please send the name, your contact information, and a one paragraph description of the issues involved.
